2. How do you get around the Hunter Valley?
With taxis and Uber’s in short supply, the best way to get around the Hunter Valley is on a group tour or with your very own van and driver for the day. We offer both.

4. What Should You Not Do at a Winery?
Anything that’s going to offend the staff or compromise the experience of the other guests.
5. Can I Wear Jeans on a Wine Tour
Jeans are absolutely fine to wear as long as they’re clean and dressy.
6. What time of day is best to go to a winery?
Any time the cellar door is open. Generally from 10am to 5pm. Some venues are better at different times of the day depending on which way they face. The Hunter Valley is known for its extremes in temperature variation. In Summer the heat can be blistering and in winter it gets quite cold.

8. What not to say at a wine tasting?
“This wine tastes like sh#t!” Always remember to be polite and courteous. This doesn’t mean saying you like it when you don’t. If asked what you think of a wine you’re not fond of you can simply say “I don’t think this one’s for me” and no one will be offended. Everyone has different taste.
9. What days are the wineries open in Hunter Valley?
Many of the larger venues are open 7 days per week. Many will be closed on Monday, Tuesday and even Wednesday. Best to check their websites before you head there.
10. How Many Days Do You Need in the Hunter Valley?
It really depends on what you’re looking to do. If wine tasting is your thing you’ll need to allow a whole week because there are over 150 wineries to explore.
10. How many wine tastings should you do in a day?
We recommend 4 at the most especially if you’re consuming the wine. All of our full-day tours include 4 tasting venues and lunch so by the afternoon you’re going to be a bit tipsy. 4 tastings also allows you to take your time so you’re not rushing around.
11. Do wineries make money on tastings?
Not really. When you factor in staff, bottles, labels and the running costs of a cellar door there isn’t a great deal of profit left over. You can support the venues that support us buy buying a bottle of your favourite wine. Hey, why not even buy a whole case!
12. What wine is the Hunter Valley famous for?
Semillon. Originally first planted back in 1830, Semillon is definitely the variety the Hunter Valley is most famous for although not a variety most punters are aware of. Semillon is a full-body, dry white wine with flavour somewhat close to Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
13. Do They Check ID's at Wine Tastings?
Yes. If you look under 25 generally you’ll be asked to show ID.
