Adina Vineyard & Olive Grove

Adina Vineyard & Olive Grove Adina Vineyard & Olive Grove

Set along Lovedale Road with views across gently sloping vines and olive trees, Adina Vineyard and Olive Grove serves up a bit of everything—wine, olives, food, and even on-site accommodation. It’s the kind of place you can settle into for a few hours (or a whole weekend) and not feel rushed. The vibe is laid-back, the setting is peaceful, and the wines are solid. Plus, if you’re into olives and olive oil, this is one of the few cellar doors in the Hunter where you can taste both side-by-side.

Owned and run by the Lindsay family, Adina offers a mix of old-world varietals, estate-grown olives, and good hospitality without the fuss.

History

Adina has been producing wine and olives in the Hunter since the early 2000s, but the property itself has been growing fruit for decades before that. When the Lindsays bought the land, they planted a combination of grapevines and olive trees, aiming to offer something a bit different to the usual cellar door setup. The name “Adina” is Italian in origin and reflects the family’s appreciation for Mediterranean-style wines, food, and farming.

From the beginning, their focus was on estate-grown, small-batch wines made with care—nothing mass-produced, just wines that represent the site. The olive grove has grown alongside the vines, and today they make their own extra virgin olive oil, table olives, tapenades and other olive-based goodies, all available to taste at the cellar door.

They’ve also added a few extras over the years—like their on-site restaurant and villas—without losing the relaxed country feel of the place.

Wine Varietals

Adina sticks to a range of Hunter Valley staples, with a few Italian and Mediterranean-style varietals thrown in to mix things up. Everything is estate-grown, and the winemaking is handled off-site by local Hunter Valley winemakers who work closely with the Adina team.

Some standouts include:

  • Semillon – Bright, citrusy and clean, with that classic Hunter backbone. Easy drinking now, or lay it down for a few years.

  • Verdelho – One of their most popular wines. Tropical, vibrant and full of fruit, with just enough zing to keep it fresh.

  • Chardonnay – They do both lightly oaked and unoaked styles. More stone fruit than butter bomb, with a balanced finish.

  • Rosé – Usually made from Shiraz, dry and summery with a bit of strawberry and spice.

  • Shiraz – Medium-bodied and true to the region, with plum, black pepper and soft tannins.

  • Cabernet Sauvignon – A bit bolder than your average Hunter red, with dark fruit and a firm finish.

  • Sangiovese – A standout if you like something a little more savoury. Medium-bodied, with bright cherry and a dry, earthy edge.

They also release a couple of dessert wines and limited releases depending on the vintage.

Tasting Experiences @ Adina Vineyard and Olive Grove

Tastings at Adina are relaxed and run at a steady pace. You’re encouraged to try both the wine and olive products, which makes it a bit more interactive than your usual cellar door stop.

  • Standard Wine Tasting – A seated tasting of around 6–8 wines, guided by friendly, low-key staff who know the wines and the story behind them.

  • Olive Product Tasting – Alongside your wine tasting, you can sample Adina’s estate-made olives, oils and tapenades. They also sell olive-based skincare and pantry products.

  • The Deck Café – The on-site café serves breakfast, lunch and coffee. Overlooks the dam and vines, and it’s fully licensed, so you can grab a glass of your favourite from the tasting and pair it with food.

  • Accommodation – There are self-contained villas on the property if you want to stay a night or two. Perfect for a quiet weekend without needing to drive anywhere.

  • Group Bookings – Welcomed with notice. They’re well set up to cater to groups without it feeling chaotic.

Adina isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel—it’s just a spot that gets the fundamentals right. Good wine, proper olive oil, a bite to eat, and a peaceful setting. Whether you’re swinging by for a quick tasting or settling in for the afternoon, it’s a place that invites you to slow down and enjoy what’s in front of you.
